“Chewy”

Chewy takes after his dad, Jett, in his innocent wonderment at the world around him. Also like Jett, he is a BIG whippet - all muscle and bone, and he feels like a ton of bricks when he rests his elbows on your lap, asking for petting, which he does every night - oblivious of his size and weight.

Chewy is extremely sweet with people, and seems to always be trying to figure out exactly what we are, what we want, and how to do the right thing. On his flip side, Chewy is also a dominant and drivey dog. He is adamant that he MUST be first out the door, first to eat, first at all domestic routines. This has caused some friction between he and the other males, who are not as interested in being first, but also don't like his rudeness and intensity when he gets into "ME FIRST" mode.

In spite of his drivey side, Chewy is very good with puppies. He watches over them in the yard, and often engages them to play - somehow taking care not to overwhelm them with his imposing size.

Chewy did extremely well in the show ring as a young dog, and needed only a single point to follow in his mom, Bella's footsteps and finish his AKC Championship. However, Chewy is now neutered and retired from the show ring and is excelling at being a couch potato.
